What is Our Tasmania?
Our Tasmania is a passion project built to document, explore and celebrate the remarkable natural environment of Tasmania. From the rocky intertidal zones of the east coast to the ancient rainforests of the south-west, this island is home to an extraordinary collection of life — much of it found nowhere else on Earth.
The site is a personal project by BushRenegade — a designer, photographer and naturalist based in Tasmania. It grew out of a simple desire: to have a well-organised, visually honest record of the species and places encountered while exploring the island.
Every species profile, location entry, field survey and photograph has been personally documented, verified and presented here. Content grows slowly and deliberately — quality over quantity.
Species & Locations
The two core guides form the backbone of the site — a growing library of the species found across Tasmania and the places where they can be found. Both are built from personal fieldwork and verified observation data.
Species Guide
A catalogue of Tasmanian flora and fauna organised by category — marine life, birds, plants, invertebrates, reptiles and more. Each entry includes identification notes, photographs, habitat and distribution information, scientific classification and conservation status.

A curated collection of natural areas, parks, reserves and coastal sites across Tasmania. Entries include interactive maps, species recorded at each location, access notes, survey records and image galleries. Each location is personally explored before it is added.

Two sections dedicated to hands-on fieldwork — structured site surveys that build a verified record of species at specific locations, and an interactive map-based guide to Tasmania's best snorkelling spots.
Field Surveys
When visiting a location, a structured walkthrough is conducted — recording every species encountered, photographing what can be photographed, and logging the data here. Surveys include species lists, attendee records, field notes and images, all linked back to relevant locations and species entries.

Clubs & Organisations
Dive clubs, naturalist groups, photography societies and conservation organisations can be listed on the site. Members can request to join clubs, club admins can manage membership and post events. Club activity feeds into the shared events calendar.
