The marblefish or southern seacarp, Aplodactylus arctidens, is a marblefish of the genus Aplodactylus

Body grey to greenish-brown with a variable pattern of pale marbling, reticulations and markings on the body and fins

This species can be confused with the Rock Cale (Aplodactylus lophodon) The colouration and markings on this species differs slightly and the tail normally lacks the spots and the head shape is slightly different.
