Fully (complinately) branched with branches arranged on each side of one axis (pinnate). Branches have regular flexible joints (intergeniculum). Arises from a calcified crust (crustose). Colour varies from red-purple through to whitish pinks and greys.

Was used as a medicine through history and even in todays society.
