Identification

The flat to slightly convex leaves range in sizes from about 40cm to 100cm long, and generally have a leaf of about 8mm to 12mm wide. The flowers with outer tepals shiny, scarious, purplish or yellow; inner tepals dull, fleshy, yellow or cream. The spikes from the flower stem give it's common name
