Very large, slender, ponderous ant with large eyes. Legs, antennae, jaws, head, thorax and first abdominal segment (postpetiole) reddish-brown to purple, remaining abdominal segments (gaster) dark brown to black. Jaws very elongated and protruding, furnished with many teeth on inner margin. Head and thorax densely sculpted with pits and corrugations, rest of abdomen shiny but with sparse long hairs, especially towards rear
