A black shell that has a flattened spire with the final whorl (body whorl)being expanded. The shell is mostly smooth but has very fine, almost indistinguishable, spiral lines it has a semicircular aperture with a white inner lip. The operculum is black.

This species can be confused with the Eastern Black Nerita as both look similar the key difference being the operculum see the pictures below.
