Similar in appearance to Notomithrax ursus this crab is often covered with seaweeds and sponges allowing them to avoid detection as they blend well into the environment they live in.

Identification

The only true way to tell these crabs apart is by the arrangment of spines around the carapace. However if you look at the claws (cheliped) This crab does not have the ridge as illustrated in Notomithrax ursus
